Located near the center of the city of Merano, this residential project, completed in 2020, focusesd on the demolition, reconstruction and expansion of the building. The design concept is based on the intention to make full use of the maximum height permitted by the Municipal Urban Plan (PUC), while partially preserving the original geometry of the building and developing the new volume vertically.
During the intervention, the existing walls in the northeast and southeast sections were demolished and rebuilt, improving structural performance and giving the building a new architectural identity.
Great attention was paid to environmental sustainability: the building was designed and constructed in accordance with the standards of the CasaClima A Nature certification, which guarantees high energy efficiency, low CO₂ emissions, and the use of environmentally friendly materials. As a result, the project offers a high level of living comfort while fully respecting the environment.

CasaClima Nature
The CasaClima Nature sustainability certification evaluates a building not only in terms of energy efficiency, but also its impact on the environment and on the well-being of its occupants. CasaClima Nature introduces an objective assessment of the eco-compatibility of the materials and systems used in construction, as well as the building’s impact on the aquatic ecosystem. Specific requirements must be met to ensure comfort and healthy indoor environments that comprehend: air quality, natural lighting, acoustic comfort, and radon gas control.
